The winter break is over:
Mr. Gyros re-opens on Saturday the 15th of April!
Opening schedule: from 12:00 noon until midnight.

Holiday-makers in Crete are often surprised that on the island the Gyros tastes different from the one at the Greek restaurant at home.

It is partly because Crete and Greece are not the same. The Gyros as most people know it from other countries has it's origin more in northern Greece. In Crete, they prepare it in a different way. Mainly the spices are different.

The Cretan cuisine also does not pay much attention to Gyros. In the most restaurants they use Gyros spits which are pre-fabricated and deep frozen in a meat factory.

At Mr. Gyros', the name stands for the idea.

photo Nikos, the Grill House owner and chef, actually is not Cretan, not even Greek. He lived in Germany for some time and imported the formula for his spices mixture for Gyros from there. He also produces the spits on his own, cleaning the meat carefully from strings and fat. Actually, the restaurant is remarkably clean.

So predominantly tourists from Germany are of the opinion that Gyros here tastes like at home.

At Nikos' they however serve not only Gyros but also many other things from an open charcoal grill, several salads and other dishes. And most of them here taste different from the ones that other Cretan restaurants serve, not only because of the spices.

Very popular is (according to the web designer's opinion) the 'Mixed Grill' with Gyros, Souflaki (both chicken and pork), and a kind of Kebab which is available only at Mr. Gyros'.

photo In front of the small restaurant there is a large roofed terrace with tables and chairs, and inside there are other tables.

In springtime and autumn they roll down the transparent tent-walls that cover the outside terrace so one can sit there even on those days when the weather brings wind and rain.

Internet access (WiFi) is available.

You will find the small restaurant by the western village exit of ▶ Adelianos Campos on the right hand side (when heading towards ▶ Rethymnon).

If you like so you can also have Nikos' specialties delivered to your holiday apartment or villa. Mr. Gyros has a very well organized delivery service.

Mr. Gyros delivers to Adelianos Campos and the neighbouring villages in the eastern part of the Rethymnon bay:

Starting from Misiria in the West and including Platanias, Pigianos Campos, Sfakaki and Stavromenos until Skaleta in the East, as well as to several villages above the bay such as Gianoudi, Adele, Maroulas, Plakoti, Pigi, Aghios Dimitrios, Aghia Paraskevi and Loutra.

Delivery is included in the prices. They will however not deliver very small portions to the very distant places.

Mr. Gyros is NOT a fast food restaurant!

Most of the specialties are not pre-fabricated and just waiting in a hot-buffet for the next guest to ask for them. Instead, they will be prepared fresh as soon as you call.

Please be aware that this will take some time!
